Privacy & cookie policy
This policy explains what information Return on Reno collects on returnonreno.com, how we use it, the cookies and similar technologies we rely on, and the choices you have. The short version
- The calculator runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you type are not sent to or stored by us.
- We use analytics and, where permitted, advertising cookies. In the UK, EEA and Switzerland these load only after you consent.
- If you join our email list, we use your address only to send what you asked for. Unsubscribe any time.
Information we collect
If you subscribe or contact us, we collect the email address and any details you include (for example your name and message). The calculator performs all math locally in your browser — your project inputs are not transmitted to or saved by us. Like most websites, we and our providers automatically collect standard technical data (approximate location from IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and referrer) via cookies and similar technologies.
Cookies and how we use them
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We group them into categories so you can control them:
- Necessary — required for the site to function and to remember your consent choice. Always on.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4, used in aggregate to understand which pages and tools are useful.
- Advertising — Google AdSense and Google Ads, used to measure ad and campaign performance and, where permitted, to show more relevant ads.
- Affiliate / referral — some outbound links pass a referral tag so a partner can attribute a visit or sale to us.
When required by law (UK, EEA, Switzerland), non-essential cookies do not load until you accept them in our consent banner, and we use Google Consent Mode v2 so Google's tags respect your choice. You can change or withdraw consent at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and usage in aggregate — for example how many people used the calculator or viewed a project guide. This helps us improve the site. Analytics data is not used to identify you personally.
Advertising
The site is supported by advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve and measure ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info/choices, or youronlinechoices.eu in the EU. Where consent is required, advertising cookies load only after you accept them.
Affiliates & email
Some outbound links are affiliate or referral links; the destination sites set their own cookies under their own policies (see our affiliate disclosure). If you opt in to email, we store your address with our email provider (Resend) only to send what you requested; every email has an unsubscribe link.
Data retention
We keep email-list and contact-form data only as long as needed for the purpose you provided it, or until you ask us to delete it. Aggregated analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's standard settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR in the UK/EEA or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, contact us or email privacy@returnonreno.com. The site is intended for adults and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Governing law & changes
This policy is governed by the laws of New Zealand. We may update it from time to time and will revise the date above.
